I have never had the new lithium once, but i had this one for 4 years. It does the job. Starts the car, tire pump comes handy at times. Great for camping as it also has 12v auto plug and 5v usb charger built in. The led light is very dim comparing to the modern led flash lights. You have to charge it at least once every couple month even if you dont use it.

Because unlike lithium, lead batteries have relatively low internal reaistance and discharge themselves. My battery died after it was left outside in the winter on a cold night. I'm sure there are Li-ion packs that would have started the car, but we have never had any issue with either of our CT booster units. I would vote for low-tech if you don't mind the weight.

• 5176 Answers SOURCE: If booster is fully charged and the vehicle battery is almost discharged it is inevitable some battery charging will take place but it is likely to be a slow and incomplete process and could shorten the life of the booster which isn't built for such work. It is also worth noting the car alternator is also not built for charging the battery and is often incapable of doing so.
